The Hourglass and the Oathbreakers
Drawn from: Wizardry School, mutineers, Hero, Man vs Time Conflict. Told in English.
Long ago, when the first dorms smelled of chalk and rain, a Hero studied in the Tower of Bells. The bells kept time for all spells. One dusk, a band of mutineers stole the master hourglass and swore to break time, to skip the long lessons, and rule the end of every test.
The Hero chased them through halls that bent like pages. In the library, the mutineers shook sand from the glass. Every grain turned a day to dust. Candles guttered. Clocks forgot how to speak. Students aged and then grew young again, terrified.
The Hero stood on the round table of trials and called the sand by its first name, which all wizards must learn. Time paused to listen. The Hero offered a bargain: bind me, and spare the school. The hourglass hummed and took the Hero’s whole youth, sealing the leak. The mutineers were left with empty fists and were cast into the margin where failed spells go.
The Tower of Bells rang once, then righted itself. The Hero walked out with silver hair and a steady heart, and class began on time.
