Heaven, hell and sacred lands

Once upon a time…

Drawn from: Heaven, Present world story, Superhuman Helper, Man vs Man Conflict. Told in English.

They called it the Sky District, though everyone joked it was just Heaven with better zoning. After the crash on Route 9, Daniel woke to marble sidewalks, a courteous receptionist, and a file stamped Admitted. He learned quickly: people arrived, people adjusted, and life went on in neat, luminous neighborhoods.

Except for the appeals office.

Daniel’s brother, Michael, showed up three months later, furious. He said Daniel had taken their mother’s antique watch when he died, left nothing to settle debts. Now both were here, and the argument rose like a siren through the white corridors. They stood before a clerk in a linen suit and argued over a watch that wasn’t even in this place—only recorded, like everything else, as a line in a ledger.

“You always kept the best,” Michael said.

“I kept what she gave me,” Daniel answered.

Witnesses paused. Even here, the old human calculations persisted: fairness, memory, blame. The clerk offered mediation; the brothers refused. Outside, light fell with municipal precision. Daniel finally said, “Take it.” Michael’s jaw set. “I wanted you to offer,” he said, and walked away.
