Heaven, hell and sacred lands

Once upon a time…

Drawn from: Heaven, Space Pirates adventure, Superhuman Helper, looking for an old friend. Told in English.

Heaven’s market woke with the hum of wings. Not angels—gliders, fabric stretched tight, catching the morning thermals that rose from the warm white plains. Gabriel tightened the willow straps on his sandals and joined the flow, past stalls selling jars of cloudwater, salt-pale bread, and thin blue threads spun from mist.

He’d come to find Liora, who’d taught him to hear the wind’s names when they were children, before she drifted away into the higher terraces. He asked the bell-keepers at the Ladder, their bronze tongues chiming in patient patterns. He checked the archives etched on rain-sheets, each droplet holding a memory until it evaporated. Nothing. Only a faint inkling: she’d become a guide for those lost between terraces.

Days passed. He worked hauling baskets of starfruit from the orchards, palms tacky with sweet, listening for familiar laughter. One dusk a procession of lanterns descended, threads of fire flickering in the thin air. A guide walked at the front, hair braided with moth-wings. Liora. She touched his cheek, leaving a cool print, and pointed upward.

They rode a shared glider into the blue, their shadows skimming the terraces like swallows.
