Folk tales from around the world

Once upon a time…

Drawn from: Mystery story, Guide, an old man reflecting on his life. Told in English.

In the shadow of the great mountains, where the wind sang ancient songs, there lived a wise old fox named Nuri. Nuri often wandered the forest, pondering life’s mysteries. One day, he stumbled upon a peculiar stone circle. It was said that the stones held the whispers of those who sought redemption.

As Nuri sat among the stones, he heard the voice of an old man, Jiro, who once lived in the nearby village. Jiro spoke of his life, recalling his youthful days of adventure and the mistakes he made. He regretted never reconciling with his estranged brother.

Nuri, moved by Jiro's sorrow, decided to help. The fox ventured into the village, seeking the brother. He found him, a frail man with eyes like Jiro's. Nuri led him to the stone circle. There, the brothers' spirits met, embraced, and found peace.

The villagers soon noticed the stones glowed softly at dusk, a sign that forgiveness had been granted. From that day, the circle became a place of healing, where old wounds mended and new stories began.
