Modern life

Once upon a time…

Drawn from: El Dorado, Present world story, Trickster, true belief like abraham. Told in English.

In the vast expanse of a world blanketed by ice and snow, where the sun was a rare visitor and the wind howled like a restless spirit, there lived a small tribe known as the Anuk. The Anuk were a resilient people, their lives shaped by the relentless cold and the scarcity of resources. They were hunters, gatherers, and above all, survivors.

Among them was a young man named Kael, whose heart burned with a fervent belief in the Great Spirit—a force that, according to the elders, guided the world and its people through the harshest of times. The Great Spirit was unseen, yet its presence was felt in the whispers of the wind, the dance of the flames, and the beating of their hearts. It was a belief passed down through generations, much like the stories of their ancestors who had once walked the same frozen paths.

Kael's father, Tarek, was the tribe's shaman, a man revered for his wisdom and his ability to commune with the Great Spirit. Tarek often spoke of a vision he had seen in the shimmering auroras that painted the night sky—a vision of a land where the ice would melt, and the earth would be fertile once more. It was a promise of hope, a testament to the power of faith in the face of adversity.

One particularly brutal winter, when the tribe's stores were dwindling and the game was scarce, Kael felt the weight of his father's vision more than ever. The children were hungry, and the elders grew weaker with each passing day. Desperation gnawed at the edges of Kael's spirit, yet his belief in the Great Spirit remained unshaken.

One night, as the tribe huddled around a meager fire, Tarek spoke of a journey—a pilgrimage to find the promised land of warmth and abundance. It was a perilous undertaking, one that required unwavering faith and courage. Kael, driven by his father's vision and his own burgeoning conviction, volunteered to lead the expedition.

The journey was arduous, the cold biting and the path treacherous. Yet, Kael's heart was a beacon of hope, guiding them through the blizzards and the endless nights. He spoke to the Great Spirit in silent prayers, asking for strength and guidance. And as the days stretched into weeks, small signs began to appear—a sudden thaw in the ice, a glimpse of green beneath the snow, a herd of caribou crossing their path.

With each sign, the tribe's spirits lifted, their faith renewed. Kael felt the presence of the Great Spirit more profoundly than ever, a comforting warmth that pushed back the chill of doubt. And then, one day, they crested a ridge to find a valley below, untouched by the ice, verdant and alive. It was the land of Tarek's vision, a sanctuary where the tribe could thrive.

The Anuk settled in the valley, their hearts full of gratitude and reverence for the Great Spirit who had guided them. Kael, now a leader in his own right, understood the power of belief, the strength it lent to those who dared to trust in something greater than themselves.

As the years passed, the story of their journey became a legend, a tale of faith and perseverance, passed down through the generations. It was a reminder that even in the coldest of times, warmth could be found in the heart's unwavering belief—a truth as enduring as the ice itself, and as vital as the sun's return.
