Tales of the future

Once upon a time…

Drawn from: anywhere in the world, in the future, Hero, seeing an old natural thing after an eco apocalypse. Told in English.

In a time not so far from our own, when the earth had grown weary from the burdens of human folly, there lay a land shrouded in mystery and dust. The skies were often gray, the air thick with the remnants of what once was. Yet, beneath this veil of desolation, whispers of an ancient wonder persisted—a towering tree, said to have stood unyielding through the ages, a symbol of life before the world turned bleak.

In a small settlement on the edge of a crumbling city, there lived a young man named Elian. He was known for his curious mind and a heart that longed for stories of old. The elders often spoke of the Great Tree, a relic from a time when nature thrived, and Elian's imagination was captured by these tales. He often dreamt of finding this tree, hoping it might still stand somewhere beyond the wastelands.

One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and purple, Elian sat by the fire, listening to the tales of Elder Maris. Her voice was like the wind, carrying stories of hope and loss. She spoke of the tree's location, hidden beyond the Valley of Echoes, a place where few dared to venture. Elian's heart raced with the thought of adventure.

The next morning, with the first light of dawn, Elian set out on his journey. He carried little, just a satchel with water, some bread, and a map drawn from the memories of the elders. His path led him through barren lands, where the earth was cracked and dry. Days turned into nights, and the stars became his guide.

As Elian journeyed, he encountered remnants of the past—abandoned villages, rusted machines, and once-great roads now swallowed by the earth. Each step was a reminder of the world that was, and the world that could be. Yet, he pressed on, driven by the hope of finding the Great Tree.

On the seventh day, as the sun rose behind him, Elian reached the Valley of Echoes. The valley was a vast expanse, its silence broken only by the whispers of the wind. Here, the air was different, carrying a scent of life long forgotten. Elian felt a chill run through him, a mix of fear and excitement.

He descended into the valley, his footsteps echoing softly against the stone. As he walked, the landscape began to change. The ground grew softer, the air cooler. Then, in the distance, he saw it—a silhouette against the morning sky. The Great Tree.

Elian's heart leapt. The tree was magnificent, its trunk wide and strong, its branches reaching out like arms embracing the sky. Leaves, green and vibrant, rustled gently in the breeze. It was as if the tree breathed, a living testament to resilience and hope.

He approached the tree with reverence, his fingers brushing against its bark. In that moment, Elian felt a connection to all that had come before him and all that might come after. The tree stood as a reminder that even in the darkest times, life could endure.

As Elian sat beneath the tree, he thought of his people, of the stories they told, and of the future they might yet build. He knew he must return to his village, to share what he had found. The journey back would be long, but the promise of the Great Tree would guide him.

With the sun setting once more, casting a golden glow over the valley, Elian began his journey home. He carried with him not just the memory of the tree, but a seed—a gift from the earth, a symbol of hope to plant in the heart of his community.

And so, the tale of Elian and the Great Tree would be told for generations, a story of adventure, of discovery, and of the enduring spirit of life.
