Once upon a time…
Drawn from: Estonia, compatible with the geography, Trickster, feeling of awe and wonder. Told in English.
In the days when the world was still young and the forests were deep and endless, there lived a fox named Viks. Viks was no ordinary fox; he had a coat that shimmered like the autumn leaves and eyes that gleamed with the wisdom of the old woods. He was known far and wide for his cleverness and curiosity.
One crisp morning, as the mist curled around the ancient pines, Viks heard a tale from an old raven perched high on a birch. The raven spoke of a wondrous place hidden deep within the heart of the forest—a place where the sky met the earth, and magic danced like fireflies. It was said that those who found it would be filled with awe and wonder, their hearts forever changed.
Viks, with his heart beating like a drum, decided he must find this place. He set off, his paws silent on the forest floor, leaving behind the familiar trails and venturing into the unknown. The journey was long and the forest thick, but Viks was determined.
As the sun dipped low, casting long shadows, Viks came across a mighty river. Its waters roared, and the current was fierce. But Viks was not deterred. He remembered the tales of the wise beavers who lived by the river, known for their skill in building and their kindness to travelers. Viks approached them, and with a few clever words and a promise of stories from the beyond, the beavers agreed to help him cross.
With their aid, Viks made it safely to the other side, where the forest seemed even more alive. The trees whispered secrets, and the air was thick with the scent of pine and moss. As he ventured deeper, he found himself in a clearing, unlike any he had seen before. The ground was covered in soft, glowing moss, and in the center stood a great stone circle, ancient and powerful.
Viks felt a shiver run through him, not of fear, but of wonder. He had found the place the raven spoke of. The sky above was a tapestry of stars, and the air hummed with magic. In that moment, Viks understood the stories of old, the tales of the forest’s heart, where time stood still and the world was full of possibilities.
With a heart full of awe, Viks returned to his home, carrying the magic of the place within him. He became a storyteller, sharing his tale with all who would listen, his eyes always gleaming with the wonder of the hidden world he had found. And so, the legend of the fox and the enchanted forest lived on, whispered among the trees and carried on the wind.
Did it land?
