Legendary lands

Once upon a time…

Drawn from: Continent of Mu, Afzelius-Gerger Ballads, Mentor, something suitable with period. Told in English.

In a land far over the distant sea, in a time when whispers carried untold tales, lived a curious fox named Luka. Luka was no ordinary fox. His coat was flame-bright, the color of sunsets over the endless plains. In those days, creatures like Luka held secrets of passageways, pathways hidden from simple eyes.

One dawn, the elders of the forest gathered by the ancient oak—its boughs heavy with leaves of memory. Silence fell. Then, stooped and wise owl, Fejor, spoke of a heart-shaped rock, a token of great power, belonging to the Thunder Bears—the giants of stories long past. Legends said the stone could spin thunder into laughter or tears, its might too perilous for mortal paws.

Luka listened, his ears prickling with every passing word. That night, as pale moons cast their silver nets over the dirt path, Luka set forth, guided by star secrets he could not understand. His heart, fierce and curious, propelled him towards the cliffside where legends told the Thunder Bears dwelled.

On the journey's edge, he met an otter named Petra, weaving willow baskets by the riverbank. "You journey where paw should not tread," warned Petra with sparkling eyes, laughter hidden within her voice. Luka, always keen for company, spoke of his quest with a child's fire—an adventure shared is an adventure twice rich.

Together they moved through echoing woodlands, crossing glistening streams with galloping fish until snow heavy on stout pines cloaked their path. The mire of worry settled upon Luka, for the air grew thin and the shadows cast fox-shaped doubt.

Then, the pair sighted the stone-carved door to the Thunder Bears’ cavern. It yawned is a mountain hungry. Bravely shaking off sleep and fear, Luka stepped inside first. Petra followed, her paws left traces of bravery etched within her delicate wake.

At the cavern’s dusking center, amidst mounds of emerald crystals, lay the dreaded stone glowing an ethereal blue. Luka trembled dazzled, and Petra closed her eyes to feel its air-whittled warmth. Reverence blanketed silence startled only by Penh’s—an elder Thunder Bear standing guardian—presence.
