Once upon a time…
Drawn from: Eastern European, Carpenter's Story, Superhuman Helper, something suitable with period. Told in English.
In the days of wooden homes and warm fires, I was a fox, clever and quick. I roamed the dense, whispering woods of a land where the wind told tales of old heroes. One crisp morning, I found a shiny trinket near a bubbling brook, a strange circle made of metal.
Curious, I sniffed and pawed, but something glittered within—a tiny picture of a lost king. The birds in the trees said it was a token of great power, hidden long ago. They chirped tales of a kingdom needing its lost ruler.
With the trinket in my jaws, I sprinted through the forest, across fields, dodging men with bows and hounds. At dusk, I reached a hidden village where an old man with kind eyes stood waiting. He took the circle gently, his eyes glistening with hope.
The villagers cheered, for the king was found, and peace would follow. I, the fox, was not remembered in songs, but my heart knew the joy of adventure ended well.
Did it land?
