English and Scottish ballads

Once upon a time…

Drawn from: Societal Collapse, Barbara Allen Ballad, Hero, Woman vs Time Conflict. Told in English.

In days when the old world faded, I was a keen-eyed fox, listening to whispers in the wind. A woman, known for her strength and heart, lived in a once-thriving village now crumbling like dry leaves. Seasons slipped through her fingers, and the village slipped with them.

Determined to save her home, she sought the wise oak, older than memory. I followed, curious as any fox would be. "Time is your foe," the oak creaked, "but within your spirit lies the key."

The woman gathered stones, each a lesson from the past. With these, she built a sundial, capturing the sun's dance. With each shadow cast, her village stirred, the fields breathed life, and laughter echoed once more.

But time is never fully tamed. Seasons kept their march. Yet her spirit, strong as ever, turned struggle into growth. The village, though changed, endured, a testament to her will.

And so, the story travels, whispered in the wind, of the woman who faced time, and the little fox who watched.
