Once upon a time…
Drawn from: Eastern European, Present world story, Trickster, searching for an object. Told in English.
In a village nestled near the great Carpathian forests, the elders spoke of a lost horn. This horn, they said, could summon the winds and bring good fortune. One cold evening, a young shepherd named Mirko heard the tale by the fire. The village decided they must find this horn to save them from a harsh winter that threatened their crops and homes.
The villagers gathered, bringing bread, cheese, and courage. They followed Mirko, who led them into the dense woods, where shadows danced under the moon’s glow. For days, they wandered, hearing whispers in the trees and feeling eyes upon them. Spirits of the woods, they believed, were testing their resolve.
On the seventh day, at dawn, they found a cave where the wind’s song was strongest. Inside, under a pile of ancient stones, lay the horn. Mirko lifted it high, and as he blew, a gentle breeze stirred the leaves. The villagers cheered, knowing they could now face the winter with hope. With spirits lifted, they returned home, grateful for the horn’s gift.
Did it land?
