Once upon a time…
Drawn from: Bronze Age Collapse, Afzelius-Gerger Ballads, a random character related to $selectedTheme, last moments before parting with a friend for a long time. Told in English.
In a land where the sun kissed the earth with gold dust, I stood by the shore with my dearest friend, Halvar. Our hearts were heavy like the dark storm clouds above, for we knew this was our last meeting before he sailed into the unknown. The village buzzed behind us, preparing for the great feast, but our minds were elsewhere.
Halvar handed me a small, carved stone—a symbol of our bond, forged through shared trials and triumphs. “Remember me, Bjorn,” he said, his voice steady despite the churning sea and emotions within. I nodded, struggling for words.
As his ship unfurled its sails, I watched through misty eyes. The horizon swallowed him, leaving only the cry of gulls and the whispering waves. I clutched the stone, a tether to our past, knowing the world would never be the same. The sun set, painting the sky in colors of farewell, and I turned back to the village, carrying the memory of our friendship like a flame against the coming dark.
