Seljuk tales

Once upon a time…

Drawn from: Seljuk Empire, Kalavela Myth, Mentor, Woman vs Self Conflict. Told in English.

In a land where the sun blazed over endless sands and the night sky twinkled with countless stars, there lived a woman named Zareen. She was known for her remarkable skill in crafting carpets. Each thread she wove told tales of distant lands, legendary beasts, and the whispers of the desert wind. Her fame spread across villages, and many sought her work, but none truly knew the burden she carried within.

Zareen was restless. Though her hands worked tirelessly, her heart felt heavy. In the quiet moments, when the loom was still and the world slept, she would look out across the dunes, longing for something more, something she could not name. It was as if the desert itself called to her, urging her to seek what lay beyond the horizon.

One evening, as the sun dipped below the sands, Zareen stood at the edge of her village. Her eyes were fixed on the distance, where the sky kissed the earth. A voice, soft yet strong, whispered in her mind, "Go forth, find your truth." It was the voice of her own heart, daring her to leave the life she knew.

Zareen set out at dawn, armed only with a small bag and her courage. She journeyed through the vast desert, where the wind sang songs older than time, and the stars watched over her like ancient guardians. As days turned to nights and nights to days, she faced many trials. The sun's heat was fierce, and the cold nights were relentless. She met traders and travelers, each with their own stories, but none could answer the question that burned within her soul.

The desert was a mirror, reflecting Zareen's deepest fears and doubts. She battled with herself, questioning her choices and wondering if she was chasing shadows. Her feet grew weary, and her heart ached for the familiar comforts of home. Yet the voice within her urged her onward, promising that the answer lay ahead.

One night, as she rested beneath a canopy of stars, an old woman appeared by her side. Her eyes were wise, and her presence was soothing, like a gentle breeze after a storm. "Why do you wander, child?" the old woman asked.

"I seek my truth," Zareen replied, her voice a mix of determination and doubt.

The old woman nodded, understanding the weight of Zareen's words. "The truth you seek is not in the sands or stars; it is within you," she said softly. "You must look inward, face your fears, and embrace your strength."

With these words, the old woman vanished, leaving Zareen alone with her thoughts. The stars seemed to shine brighter, as if encouraging her to listen to her heart. Zareen closed her eyes, letting the desert's silence envelop her. She searched her soul, confronting the shadows that lingered there. She realized that her restlessness came from fear – fear of failure, fear of the unknown, fear of not being enough.

As dawn broke, Zareen felt a change within her. The burden she had carried for so long began to lift. The desert, once a vast emptiness, now seemed alive with possibilities. She understood that her journey was not about finding truth in the world but in herself. She had faced her greatest battle and emerged stronger.

With a newfound peace, Zareen returned to her village. Her weaving took on a new brilliance, each thread reflecting the journey she had undertaken. She no longer sought answers from the world, for she had found them within her own heart.

And so, the tale of Zareen spread far and wide, inspiring others to listen to their inner voice and seek their truth. Her story became a legend, told by storytellers across the land, a reminder that the greatest journey is the one within.
