Ottoman tales

Once upon a time…

Drawn from: Ottoman Empire, The Earl of Murray Ballad, Superhuman Helper, man vs immortality. Told in English.

In a bustling village near the grand palace of a sultan, I, a humble trader, heard whispers of a legendary drink that promised life without end. Many sought it, but none returned with tales of success. One fateful day, a mysterious stranger, cloaked in shadows, approached me in the marketplace. He spoke of a quest to find this elixir, hidden in the heart of the scorching desert sands.

Determined, I embarked on the journey, guided by tales from ancient scrolls. Days turned to nights, and the sun blazed fiercely, but I pressed on, my heart set on eternal life. In the depths of the desert, I discovered a hidden oasis, shimmering under the moonlight. There, nestled amidst palm trees, was a well, said to hold the elixir.

But as I approached, an old guardian rose from the sands. He warned me of the price of immortality—a life without joy, friends, or love. Realizing the curse it carried, I turned away, cherishing the fleeting beauty of mortal life over endless solitude.
