Slavic tales

Once upon a time…

Drawn from: Eastern European, Sea Dayaks, Hero, the sentence: once you stray from the path you are lost entirely. Told in English.

In the days of yore, when the world was wild and untamed, I set out on a journey through dense forests and misty mountains. The elders warned, "Once you stray from the path, you are lost entirely." Their words clung to me like a shadow.

One foggy morning, the woods whispered secrets, and I found myself tempted by a strange call. Ignoring the path, I wandered deeper into the forest, where the trees grew thick and tangled. The light dimmed, and I felt the eyes of unseen creatures upon me.

Days slipped into nights, and the forest seemed endless. Hunger gnawed at me, and despair crept in. Just when hope seemed lost, a gentle breeze carried the scent of home. I followed it back to the path, worn and humbled.

The path welcomed me, guiding my weary feet back to my village. There, I shared my tale, a caution for all who would listen. Stray not from the path, for the world beyond is a wilderness of dreams and dangers.
