Once upon a time…
Drawn from: null, null. Told in English.
In the days of old, when I was still but a young sprout of a sorcerer, I found myself in the most peculiar of places, a grand institution where the air hummed with enchantment and the very stones whispered secrets. It was a time when our lives were filled with wonder and the promise of greatness. The corridors echoed with the footsteps of those who sought to master the unseen forces of our world.
One chilly morning, as the fog hung low over the grounds, I awoke with a strange pull in my chest, a feeling that something was amiss. I had been dreaming of a place forgotten by time, a hidden corner of the school where the light scarcely reached. The dream was vivid, almost like a memory, calling to me with a familiar voice.
Unable to shake the feeling, I decided to follow the tug. I crept through the corridors, my steps silent, past halls lined with tapestries depicting ancient tales. The air grew colder as I descended deeper, until I reached a narrow staircase that spiraled downwards into shadow.
At the bottom, I stood before a door, heavy and carved with symbols worn by time. It looked as if it had not been opened for many years. My hand trembled as I pushed it open, the creak of the hinges breaking the silence like a whispered secret. Beyond lay a chamber, its walls covered in dust and cobwebs. In the center of the room stood a pedestal, upon which rested a book bound in faded leather.
As I approached, the book seemed to awaken, its pages fluttering as if stirred by an unseen breeze. I opened it carefully, and there on the pages were spells and enchantments written in a language I barely understood. Yet, there was one charm that caught my eye, a spell of unlocking, the words glowing with a faint light. Without thinking, I spoke them aloud.
The chamber shuddered, and a hidden door swung open, revealing a passage lined with torches that burst into flame as I stepped forward. My heart raced with the thrill of discovery and the thrill of adventure as I moved deeper into the unknown. The passage opened into a cavern, its ceiling high and adorned with crystals that sparkled like stars.
In the center of the cavern stood a pool of water, still as glass. I approached cautiously and saw my reflection staring back at me with eyes wide with awe. The surface shimmered, and an image formed—a memory from my past, a day when I had wandered here as a child, led by a sense of wonder and curiosity. I remembered now the laughter of friends, the stories shared by the firelight, and the dreams of a future filled with magic.
Lost in the memory, I almost did not notice the presence behind me. A voice, gentle yet firm, spoke from the shadows. It was the voice of a teacher, a guide who had watched over us in our youthful days. She stepped into the light, her face kind and wise. She told me of the chamber's purpose, a place meant to be discovered when one was ready to remember the roots of their journey.
Understanding filled me, and I realized the importance of remembering, of honoring the paths we have traveled. With a grateful heart, I thanked her and promised to hold the memories close, to never forget the lessons of the past.
As I retraced my steps back to the familiar halls of the institution, I felt the weight of the past lifting, replaced by a lightness, as if I had found a part of myself long forgotten. The air felt warmer, filled with the promise of new beginnings.
And so, the tale of the hidden chamber became part of the stories passed down from generation to generation, a reminder that sometimes we must journey into the past to truly understand our present and chart our course for the future.
