Once upon a time…

I stood at the edge of the great river, where the water’s song echoed tales from the time before the world tipped over. The elders spoke of a woman, brave and lost, whose story I now bring to you.
Her name was Suri, and she was of our people. Known for her spirit and skill, she was once at peace. But then, whispers of change stirred among the trees, and shadows crept where sunlight once danced. Suri felt this shift deep within her soul, though no one else seemed to see. They laughed and sang as if nothing had altered, while Suri grew restless, her heart tangled with unease.
One morning, unable to quiet her mind, she set out alone. The path through the jungle was familiar, but the air felt heavier with each step. She believed she could find what troubled her out there, beyond the sight of her village.
Days passed, and Suri wandered farther from home, her thoughts twisting like the vines around her. She faced no beast, no storm, only the silence of her own doubts. The jungle, once a place of comfort, now mirrored her inner chaos. She began to fear she might never return, that the whispers within would lead her astray forever.
But as the night fell one eve, she found herself beside a pool, its water still and clear as a mirror. She looked into it and saw not the warrior the others knew but a woman battling herself. The reflection showed her fears, her guilt for leaving, the weight of destiny she could not yet grasp.
In that moment, Suri understood. The struggle was not with the world but within. To find peace, she had to reconcile with all parts of herself—the brave, the fearful, the doubting, and the hopeful. She sat by the water until dawn, her mind as still as the surface of the pool.
When the first light touched the land, Suri rose with a sense of calm. With each step back to the village, she let go of the fears that had bound her. Though the world still shifted, she was no longer adrift. She returned to her people, carrying not just tales of her journey but the quiet strength she’d found.
And so, the story of Suri reminds us all that sometimes the greatest battles are the ones we fight within. Her path taught us that courage is not the absence of fear but the wisdom to walk with it.
Did it land?
