Once upon a time…
Drawn from: null, null. Told in English.
In the days of old, when winters were harsh and nights stretched long, I found myself wandering through the rolling hills and dense woods of a land steeped in tales of gods and giants. The chill clung to my cloak as I sought shelter in a small village nestled by the river, a place where the trees whispered secrets and the wind carried old songs.
I arrived as the sun dipped behind the hills, casting long shadows that seemed to dance in the flickering torchlight. The village folk gathered in the mead hall, their faces lined with stories untold. It was there I met Erik, a man whose heart, they said, was as pure as the first snowfall. He was a carpenter by trade, humble and kind, with hands that shaped wood into warmth and wonder.
Erik was troubled, and his eyes held a burden deeper than the darkest forest. He spoke of a stranger who had come to the village, a man cloaked in mystery, claiming to be a healer. Yet, strange things had begun to happen. The livestock fell ill, and shadows moved where none should be. The villagers whispered of curses and ill luck, of things best left alone.
Erik, driven by a need to help and protect his people, sought to uncover the truth. He asked me to join him, saying two sets of eyes were better than one. Together, we followed the stranger's path, through winding woods and across frozen streams. The moon hung low, and the night was still, save for the crunch of snow beneath our boots.
We found the stranger in a clearing, his back to us, murmuring words that twisted the air. Strange symbols were carved into the ground, and a chill ran through me that was not from the cold. Erik, brave as he was kind, stepped forward, demanding answers. The stranger turned, eyes as dark as a storm, and laughed—a sound that made the trees shiver.
But Erik, with a heart full of light, stepped into the circle of symbols, breaking their power with his presence. The air shifted, and the darkness lifted, leaving only the quiet of the night. The stranger's power was broken, and he fled into the shadows, leaving no trace but a fading whisper of his name.
The village was safe, and the folk hailed Erik as a hero. Yet, he shrugged off their praise, saying it was not heroics but simply what was right. As the village celebrated, I knew I had witnessed more than just a tale of mystery; I had seen the strength of a true heart, shining bright against the night's darkest hour.
